A Thousand Notes

Chapter Two

Class was about to start for History, and currently Francis Bonnefoy was stood in front of your desk. As far as the people around you could tell, he was trying his best to flirt.
“Did I mention that you’re hair is so beautifully soft and looks stunning…” he said, in a silky voice gently putting his hand on your (hair colour) hair and gently holding a few stands in his hands. Just having someone’s hands on your hair almost sent shivers down your spine if you weren’t starting to get uncomfortable.
“And those eyes…Why I could stare at them for years.” He then started to literally gaze into your eyes trying not to blink. And weirdly enough, you couldn’t look away.
Whatever this dude was trying to do, it was working and you’re not sure you liked it.
On the opposite side of the classroom, a certain albino was watching this interaction. For some reason, just watching made him want to hurl, and break it up. He wasn’t all too sure why he wanted to do that though...because (name) was just a friend to him! Yeah...That’s what…
He shook his head trying to make sense of his thoughts. He made his way over to the desk and tried to make a point at slamming his books down with enough force to at least make the two people jump. He felt sorry for (name), she looked like a gunshot had gone off right next to her ear. However he roared with laughter at Francis’ reaction, he had actually fallen off the desk from the shock. And luckily for Gilbert, the bell rang and the teacher called the class to attention.
There was only one section left in the project, and then you’d be free for Christmas break! You looked back at your notepad. You had literally just written down your number and given it to Francis, and you don’t know why. Maybe you hoped that he’d become your friend? He certainly had an odd way of getting you to be friends. The thought of him wanting to date you didn’t occur to you - because who would want to date someone they couldn’t even hold a stable two-way conversation with?
You sighed silently before looking and paying attention to the teacher. At least you could call Gilbert a sort-of friend…?
Class had ended, and you were walking home.
Bonjour, ma douce~” You read the text from Francis. You smiled, you had no idea what he just said, but it was nice to get a text.
Hey there, Francis :)” You responded.
It seems as though little Gilbert was jealous of what happened in class earlier~ ;)” Francis replied, you could almost hear his accent through the text even if it wasn’t written phonetically. Your eyebrows furrowed slightly as you read the text over three times, trying to understand what he was talking about.
Jealous…? Of what?” You innocently sent back as you pushed aside the gate to your yard. Unlocking the door, you kicked your shoes off and started to make your way upstairs.
Of our intimate moments just before class started of course! Don’t tell me you have forgotten already~
Your thoughts went back to class, sure Francis was being weird before class but he wasn’t trying to be intimate was he? Well, the first time you met him he grabbed your butt as he left. So it wasn’t that far of a stretch to say he was trying to be super flirty.
Oh that’s what it was? Why would Gilbert be jealous of that? He’s just my project partner.” You shrugged, before pulling out your homework from your bag. You thought you might as well tackle one of the last batches of homework you would be assigned whilst you waited for a reply.
Well, if it’s not obvious to you then maybe it's not for me to tell. When will you be meeting up again?
We finished the project work last night, so I’m not sure if we need to meet once more and review everything before we hand it in. Could you ask Gilbert to text me if he does?
Why don’t you just text him?
Well, because as far as I know he’s walking right with you back to your dorm. Or if not, you’re already at your dorm with him.” You shrugged as you returned back to your homework. You got lost in the math question you had been finishing and by the time you checked your phone you had two messages, one from Francis and one from Gilbert.
Hey Frau, want to meet up and review the work?” Gilbert had texted. You paused and stared at your phone, his text on screen. You briefly pondered over the words Francis had texted you. Gilbert? Jealous of Francis? You wanted to chuckle at the thought. Nah, the most Gilbert could consider you was a friend. Even then you weren’t sure.
Sure, sounds good. Where do you want to meet? Your place or mine?” You replied, before moving onto the text that Francis had sent you.
Fine, fine. He said that he would text you.
Thank you Francis! Say hi to Antonio for me :)” You replied before closing your phone, only to have to open it when the text message sound rang once again.
Want to mix it up and meet at starbucks? Probably tomorrow?
You shrugged and nodded not that he could see it. “Sure, sounds cool. I’ll bring my laptop.

Somehow Kinzie got a hold of your phone, and now knew that you were meeting Gilbert. You had tried to get to sleep, but it was near impossible to do so when your sister was nattering on in your ear “my baby sister’s got a date!” This of course, left your cheeks tomato red, denying everything she said whilst burying your face in your covers. You briefly considered getting up and whacking her right in the face with your pillow before pushing her out but you were too much of a softy to do that.
“Gaaaah! I can’t wait for you guys to get married! My baby sis, walking doing the isle- I getting giddy just thinking about it!” She gushed. That did it, you pulled your pillow from under your head and slapped her with it. You pushed her out, hitting her to make her leave. And with every hit she just laughed. “Alright! Alright! I’m going, jeeeeze!”
The next day came around, and being a saturday, you didn’t have to get up too early. You got dressed for the day in your favourite attire, it wasn’t too casual but it made you feel pretty. You checked your bag, the things you still needed to pack was your purse and laptop.
You were pretty sure that Kinzie probably had your laptop. She tended to borrow it sometimes, whenever there was something on TV she wanted to watch at night she would take you laptop and watch it with her overseas friend via Skype. You pulled open your bedside drawer, and picked up your purse from it, before throwing it in your backpack and slinging the backpack over your shoulder.
You knocked on Kinzie’s door, before walking in. With a chuckle, you weren’t surprised to see that she had your laptop open whilst she was sprawled over her sofa. You logged her out of Skype (where you saved her a screenshot of her sleeping friend), and placed it in your bag.
The bus journey was pretty short, ten minutes. Kinzie would probably ask you why you bothered to take the bus when it would only take twenty minutes to walk it for free. You shrugged, you were too lazy to walk all the way to starbucks. When you could see the Starbucks, you noticed a familiar head of snow-white hair and alabaster skin. With a smile, you started to wave to him, it took him moments to notice you and his face broke out into a grin.
You couldn’t help but grin back at him.
On your way over, you hurriedly wrote “Hey, Gil. I hope you weren’t waiting too long.
“Nah, I just got here a few moments ago.” He shrugged, his words forming mist in the air between you. Yep, it really was that cold already, another reason why you didn't feel like walking today. His cheeks and nose were also slightly red, you figured it was from the cold. From memory, you remembered that an uncovered face out in the cold usually meant that it would slowly freeze, so you figured it was from the cold.
Oh that's good! I was worried that I would be late. I have my laptop in my bag, ready for us to go over the work.” You scribbled down, as the two of you walked inside. He held the door open for you as you wrote. You didn't like standing still just to write a few words. “Oh, thanks for that by the way.
“It's alright, frau. It's unawesome for a man to be impolite!” He laughed, and you couldn't help but giggle also. “So what do you want to drink?”
You glanced at the drinks board for a moment, before looking down in front of you to the chilled  displays. You picked up a smoothie, you weren't all that big on coffee or tea, but you did like the atmosphere in Starbucks so you often came here. You gave Gilbert a smile before you pulled out your purse.
The barrister turned to ask you what you wanted but before they could say anything you smiled at them an held up your smoothie, signalling that you didn't want any hot drinks. She then turned to Gilbert and asked in a perky voice that you didn't really understand since it was about eleven on a saturday. “What would you like, sir?”
“Toffee nut latte.”
“Coming right up, is this to go or will you be staying in today?” She smiled, pressing a few buttons on the touch-screen checkout.
“Staying in.” Gilbert responded, his gaze drifting off towards you. You were focusing on pulling out your change, counting it all up in your head. He could see you working the math out in your head, your lips moving slightly to make words. He hadn't even noticed the barrister had returned to place his drink onto a tray.
“That will be seven dollars, eighty-five please.” She smiled, looking up at the two of you. After a moment of watching you count up your money, Gilbert smirked slightly and pulled out a ten dollar note placing it on the counter. Just before the barrister could pick it up however, you had grabbed it and passed it back to Gilbert.
You placed a large handful of coins onto the counter, before waiting for the barrister to accept it. An awkward moment silence donned the three of you, before you realised that you were fifty cents short, you placed the rest of the change down and the barrister scooped it up hesitantly before starting to count it out once again.
You beamed up at Gilbert, as he raised an eyebrow. “You know it would have been quicker to let me pay...?” He said as the barrister had to start over her counting again. The barrister silently asked the deities why this girl had to pay in an array of hundreds of nickles, quarters and dimes and not just pay in a ten dollar note like everyone else.
You shook your head at Gilbert, which by now had deciphered as “I have exact change so I'm not going to waste your full note.” or something similar. It sometimes concerned him how much he had grown to know (name) in just the month they had been project partners, he was able to decipher her thoughts with only a simple gesture.
He shook his head to get rid of this train of thought before he started to blush again. He had good timing because just at that moment the barrister placed the change in the change draw before smiling up at the two. “Thank you! Have a great day.”
“Danke.” Gilbert nodded as he took the tray and started to lead you to a couple of arm chairs near the window in the corner. You took your seat on the arm chair facing away from the window, and started to pull your laptop out of your bag. As Gilbert was putting the tray down, you wrote down a translation of your gestures in the line.
You shouldn't waste full notes, when I have exact change. So I paid.
Gilbert inwardly smiled. Yep, he was correct. He wondered on the number of notes she had written to her over the course of the month they had spoken. Just out of curiosity, whilst wondering, he had also wondered if anyone else had conversations with (name) like he did. After a moment on that train of thought, he realised where the train's desination was and immediately jumped away from it.
“A-Ah, so what have we got left to review?” Gilbert asked hurriedly, eager to get his mind away from his thoughts.
You looked up from your laptop for a moment before typing out your response, and turning the laptop towards him “Well, we're essentially done. There's just a few things to go over, such as the layout and images we need to use. Sorry, but you'll have to be the one to present to the class. Unless everyone suddenly learned sign language, they won't be able to understand what I'm saying.” You were usually quick at writing, due to the fact that your notes had to equal speech for a moderate conversation you quickly learned the art of quick writing, but typing on the laptop was just that little bit quicker than normal speech. So when around a laptop or computer, your conversations were just that bit quicker. Once he read your words, you looked down with a sad expression. You had always wondered why fate would be cruel? Why must you be born with undeveloped vocal cords? Why must you be born in a world where communication was absolutely everywhere you went and was necessary for normal life?
“Don't worry, I'm fine with it.” Gilbert shrugged. “An awesome being like me will take on the responsibility!” He grinned.
You chuckled slightly, feeling slightly better that you were paired with Gilbert and not some inconsiderate guy who would just dump everything on you.
The morning continued on. You finalised your project, and sat in silence for an awkward moment. You were unsure whether or not you were stopping him from getting on with his day, if he meant for this to be a short meeting. You looked back down to your laptop and were checking up on your favourite non-published writer, unsure of what to do whilst looking up often enough not to seem rude to Gilbert who seemed to be absorbed completely in his second toffee nut latte.
Unknown to the two of you, the barrister who served you earlier had been speaking to her co-worker about how cute the two of you were together. Had you over-heard them, your cheeks would break out in a fire-engine red that would rival that of a perfectly ripe tomato.
“Um.” He muttered a moment later.
Am I keeping you from something? If so I apologise!” You passed him the note you had been fiddling with in your fingers for a while, less than a second after he uttered the single word.
“Nein...I mean kinda. I have this thing in a few hours.” Gilbert admitted as he rubbed the back of his head slightly.
Oh! Then don't worry, you can go. We're done with the project right?” You wrote, passing it to him.
“You wouldn't mind?”
Nah, you go ahead. I think my sister wants me to do something with her today anyway.” You half-lied, she usually bugs you to bake something for her, and after a while gets bored and joins you in making it. But you weren't sure if she would be out today or not, you thought you heard her say something about meeting friends but you couldn't be sure if it was today or tomorrow.
“Okay then...Uh. See you Monday, frau.” Gilbert said awkwardly before he left.
Yep. Then I doubt you'll talk to me again, afterwards. You thought sadly with a sigh.

*sings* IT'S FINALLY DONNNNEEE~
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE FIRST PART I WORKED REALLY HARD ON IT AND I LOVE ALL THE FEEDBACK THAT I'M GETTING FOR THIS SERIES, I REALLY LIKE WORKING ON IT. SO LOVE TO YOU ALL :heart::heart:
Also, I am really sorry for not uploading in a while. I...kinda hit a wall with this insert?? I usually do a bit of a project, loose steam for it, then never pick it up again. But after a friend read the first part a while back I had a small spurt of inspiration to pick it up again, but yeeeeeaaaahhh. I'm sorry that it's so short,  I had no idea how to make Prussia in character whilst hanging with the reader, so if you have any ideas and want a part three PLEASE LEAVE A SUGGESTION IN THE COMMENTS SECTION. ANY SUGGESTION IS A GOOD SUGGESTION.

I guess another reason for any lack of good in character Prussia could be the fact that my Hetalia knowledge is a slight bit rusty, especially when it comes to writing the characters. I've currently been too absorbed in my own writing to write fanfiction correctly, I apologise!

So...uh yeah. Thanks for reading!!!
